Couples counselling

We offer couples counselling to support partners at all stages of their relationship — whether you’re navigating challenges, feeling disconnected, or wanting to strengthen communication and understanding. Couples counselling provides a safe, neutral space to explore concerns openly, improve emotional connection, and work towards healthier patterns together.

What Couples Counselling May Involve

Sessions are tailored to each couple and may include:

  • Improving communication and conflict resolution
  • Understanding recurring patterns or triggers within the relationship
  • Exploring emotional needs, boundaries, and attachment styles
  • Rebuilding trust following conflict, betrayal, or life stressors
  • Supporting couples through life transitions or external pressures

The focus is on helping both partners feel heard, supported, and understood.

Common Issues Addressed

Couples counselling may support concerns such as:

  • Communication breakdown or frequent conflict
  • Emotional distance or loss of intimacy
  • Trust issues, infidelity, or betrayal
  • Anxiety, stress, or mental health concerns impacting the relationship
  • Parenting challenges or differing values
  • Adjustment to major life changes (e.g. injury, illness, work stress, relocation)

Therapeutic Approaches Used

Our psychologists draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, which may include:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Gottman-informed interventions
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) strategies
  • Attachment-based and trauma-informed approaches

Therapy is always adapted to the needs, goals, and dynamics of each couple.

Fees & Medicare

Please note that couples counselling is not eligible for Medicare rebates, including Mental Health Care Plans. Sessions are provided on a private-fee basis. Some private health funds may offer rebates under extras cover — we recommend checking directly with your insurer.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, the Dharug people of the Bankstown area and the Eora Nation of greater Sydney. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.
